Special Effect Filters |
Hoya Cross Screen Filter
Cross Screen adds a dramatic four-cross flare to very bright areas, giving a soft-focus effect. ldeal for photographs of ladies wearing jewellery or other objects with strong reflections. Can also be used for a variety of effects.

Hoya 81B Coloured (Warming) Filter
These are light balancing filters; They are designed to decrease the color temperature too slightly for a warmer tone. Typically used for Portraits to give that tanned warm look to the skin or for Landscapes.

Hoya ND Filter
Neutral Density filters are often ignored by photographers, but they have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results.
They have four main uses:
- To enable slow shutter speeds to be used during normal daylight to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, cars, seas etc.
- To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background.
- To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (ie: above ISO400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations.
- To allow video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which would normally cause over-exposure.
|
 | ND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor; they have no affect on color balance.
|
Hoya RM 90 Infrared Filter
The RM-90 filter is used for infrared photography. Infrared spectrum is sensitive to ultraviolet rays and the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum so it is necessary to filter out all but the infrared rays. RM90 passes only that above 900nm. Often used in crime detection, medical photography, detection of distribution of vegetation, Special Effects etc.

Hoya Close Up Macro Filters
Available in +2, +4 and +5 diopters for close-up photography. Depth-of-field is shallow so use as small an aperture as possible, CLOSE-UPs offer a world of new creativity.

Buying your first filter? Go for a UV (standard) filter. UV filters should be constantly fitted to a lens to give improved clarity and color balance as well as offering protection to your lens, also minimising the coatings being damaged due to excessive cleaning. This filter will serve as a permanent lens protector from scratches and excessive cleaning of your front optics. These filters offer both amateur and professional photographers HOYA's famous quality at reasonable prices. They have coatings applied to both surfaces to suppress reflection and increase light transmission. There are a few exceptions in the special effects range which, due to the special materials used in construction, do not have coatings applied.
Buying your second filter? Want to eliminate unwanted reflections Go for a circular polarising (CP) filter. Circular Polarising filters have several uses such as elliminating unwanted reflections, increasing color saturation and enhancing contrast. Widely used for many different situations, a must have for all photographers who are serious about creating outstanding images. Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarised and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera’s lens.
Other commonly-owned filtersHMC (Hoya multi-coated) filter These popular filters are renowned for their ability to minimise reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. The result is an average light transmission of over 97%, giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. HOYA HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses.
Super HMC filter These outstanding filters offer revolutionary performance in light transmission and color balance. 12 layers of Super Multicoating are applied to the surfaces of the UV models, which produces an average transmission of 99.7%! Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows increased resistance to flare and stunning images can be recorded at wide apertures without compromising the performance of your lenses.

Standard UV & Circular Polariser - Coated on both sides. Transmits about 95% of light. Offers good quality protection for lenses.
HMC - Multi-coated with three layers on each side. Minimises reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. Provides average light transmission of over 97%, giving sharp contrast and well balanced color.
Super Pro 1 (UV) - 12 layers of super multi-coating applied to the surfaces, producing an average transmission of 99.7%.
Super Pro 1 (Circular Polariser) - 7 layers of Super Multi Coating on the rear surface to eliminate internal reflection and ghosting. Slim profile of just 5mm avoids any vignetting problems and makes them ideal for use with wide angle lenses.
